Lady Gaga: 'Bullying Must Become Illegal'

Opinions on this?
Personally, I think it's a bad idea; for a start, unrealistic. Bullying has an unclear definition and people would end up with criminal records they shouldn't have. Bullying is also a vital part of growing up, whichever end of it you're on...in a world without conflict where everyone loves everyone else, people would have very shallow personalities and probably have a significant lack of emotional depth.

I agree that I don't think it should be illegal, just dealt with more firmly by teachers and other authority figures. But I don't think bullying is necessarily a natural part of growing up, some people commit suicide because of it. Personally, I can understand the point you are trying to make, but for the rest of the people here I think that particular part of what you've written needs to be re-worded somewhat in my opinion

I think a lot of the time, teachers etc. don't know what they are dealing with...in my experience, they've always gotten the wrong end of the stick and it's the wrong people who get the blame - actually, I don't think it's something that should involve 'blame' whatsoever if dealt with properly. People commit suicide for all sorts of reasons (that sounds really blunt/apathetic, but I can't think of a better way to word it), I think it's best not to bring that into it.
Opinions on this sort of thing are bound to offend.

I agree, most teachers sometimes make a mistake in that they get the wrong person in trouble. I used to be bullied at school, so I know exactly what you mean by that lol. Yes, blame should be left out and teachers etc. just need to deal with tackling the issue at its source.
